In December, Canada's iron ore concentrate production surged to 5,394,008 tons, marking a 10.1% increase from the previous month and a 7.7% rise from December 2022.
However, Canadian iron ore producers faced challenges in shipping, with a decline of 14.3% from November, amounting to 2,987,461 tonnes, and a slight 0.9% decrease compared to December 2022. Despite production gains, iron ore concentrate stocks at Canadian producers at the end of December rose to 7,653,763 mt, contrasting with November's 6,637,476 mt but lower than December 2022's 8,445,748 mt.
The export value of iron ores and concentrates also experienced a dip in December 2023, totalling CAD 781.3 million, down from November 2023's CAD 801.5 million.
