During the visit, Eric Niedziela, Chairman of ArcelorMittal France, and the French management team hosted Minister of Economy and Finance Le Maire. It was reported that the visit emphasized the French government's support for decarbonization efforts and that the decarbonization plans, which are progressing with the financial assistance received, were conveyed to Minister Le Maire.
In France, one of ArcelorMittal's decarbonization plans is currently in its final phase, following the successful completion of the FEED (front-end engineering design) phase last year. This phase of the project is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year. The FEED phase will test and verify the viability of the project by determining its industrial layout, implementation schedule and final budget.
It was also mentioned that ArcelorMittal's decarbonization initiatives in France are supported by an agreement with EDF Energy, the French state-owned energy supplier, for the long-term supply of low-carbon electricity to its steelmaking facilities in Dunkirk and Fos-sur-mer.
