Exports increased to 28,500 tons in December
In December 2023, Brazil's steel plate exports reached 28,500 tons. This figure was 21,700 tons in November and 18,900 tons in October.
Usiminas and ArcelorMittal were the main exporters
The biggest contributors to this increase in exports were major steelmakers such as Usiminas, which exported 25,700 tons at $1,289 per ton, and ArcelorMittal, which exported 2,400 tons at $593 per ton. Traders also played a role in the export market, shipping 400 tons at an average price of $1,217 per ton.
Exports to South America amounted to 7,000 tons and to the US to 1,500 tons.
Steel imports amounted to 1,300 tons
Brazil's December plate imports totaled 1,300 tons, up from 700 tons in November. Imports included 700 tons from China at $1,041 per ton and 600 tons from Europe at $1,669 per ton.
