Brazil witnessed a significant boost in its iron ore exports with an 8% increase year-on-year, reaching 26.85 million tonnes in April 2024. This rise is up from the 24.87 million tonnes recorded in April 2023, according to the latest customs data.
The export figures for April 2024 closely mirrored those of March, which stood at 26.63 million tonnes, indicating a stable output. However, despite the higher export volume, there was a noticeable decrease in the average price of iron ore. The price dropped to $81.28 per tonne FOB in April 2024, down from $88.9 per tonne FOB in the same month last year.
