In April, exports were around 529,000 tons, a decrease of 19% from March and 10.2% from April last year, with an export value of $375 million, which is down by 15.7% month-on-month and 12.3% year-on-year.
From January to April, the total exports amounted to about 2.44 million tons, falling 13.4% compared to the same period last year, and the export value was $1.6 billion, representing a 16% decline. The primary destinations for these exports included the US, Germany, and Dominica.
Meanwhile, imports of semi-finished steel into Brazil increased significantly during the same timeframe, with total imports reaching about 246,000 tons, a 27.3% increase from last year. The import value also rose to roughly $136 million, a 27.9% increase, mainly from Russia, Vietnam, and Japan.
