Shaken by selling pressure in global markets, Borsa Istanbul experienced a drop due to concerns about a possible US recession, rising tensions in the Middle East, geopolitical risks, and concerns about interest rates and inflation domestically. The BIST 100 index started the day decreased by 6.7%, triggering the index-based circuit breaker.
Borsa Istanbul announced on the Public Disclosure Platform: "As of 09:55:22, the Index-Based Circuit Breaker System has been activated. Trading in all segments of our Stock Market, contracts based on shares and share indexes traded in the Futures and Options Market, and the Debt Securities Market Share Repo Market have been temporarily suspended." Trading will resume at 10:20 with a single-price collection and at 10:30 with buy-sell orders.
Borsa Istanbul closed last Friday with a predominantly sell-off trend, with the BIST 100 index closing the day decreased by 3.01% at 10,473.47 points.
