According to the press service of the Byelorussian Steel Work (BMZ), in the first half of the current year, the steel output exceeded one million tonnes, which is marked by an increase of 102.2% compared to the same period last year. Rolled steel production exceeded one million tonnes, and pipe output exceeded 60 thousand tonnes. In June, the utilisation of the metalware shops increased by 12.6% as compared to the same period last year.
Vladimir Chaus, Deputy General Director for External Economic Relations, Sales and Distribution Network Management, emphasised that the company managed to maintain the export orientation of the enterprise. According to the results of work for 2023, the company was nominated for the award ‘Best Exporter of 2023’. According to him, BMZ has always supplied products to the foreign market and exports accounted for about 80% of the company's activity.
At the conference dedicated to metallurgy in Belarus, Igor Lutsai, representative of BMZ, spoke about the company's future plans to develop green metallurgy, transition to production of high-carbon alloyed steels and introduction of digital technologies into production cycles, which are becoming priority areas of BMZ's activities for the next 8-10 years.
