Bilecik Demir Çelik accelerates its green transformation with carbon and water footprint certifications

In a statement released on the company's social media account, it was emphasized that carbon emissions and water usage are monitored and managed in compliance with international standards through verifications conducted by TÜV AUSTRIA TURK.

As part of the decarbonization process, total carbon emissions were calculated as 0.72 tCO₂e/t of rolled product, with direct emissions accounting for 17%, indirect energy-related emissions for 56%, and other indirect emissions for 27%. According to the water footprint data, the blue water footprint was measured at 0.43 m³/year, the green water footprint at 0.02 m³/year, while the zero value of the gray water footprint stood out.

These verifications have enabled the company to better analyze its environmental impact, strengthen its sustainability strategies, and enhance investments aimed at improving water efficiency. Additionally, investments in circular water usage are aimed at reducing natural resource consumption.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to further developing its sustainable production approach, minimizing its environmental impact, and continuing its efforts to leave a more livable world for future generations.
