The government of Kyrgyzstan has introduced a temporary ban on the export of ferrous metal scrap and waste, as well as ferrous metal ingots intended for remelting. The restrictions will remain in effect for six months, lasting until September 18, 2025.
This move follows a previous temporary ban that was implemented on August 15, 2024, as part of efforts to ensure domestic supply for local steel producers and prevent the outflow of valuable raw materials.
As of mid-March 2025, the average purchase price for 3A grade scrap at collection points in Bishkek stands at 19,200 Kyrgyzstani som per tonne (USD 219.69/t).
