According to World Steel Association (worldsteel) data, steel production by Austrian mills in April increased by 6.5% on a monthly basis, but decreased by 0.8% on an annual basis to around 651,000 tonnes.
In the first four months of this year, Austrian steel output was 2.48 million tonnes, down 6.3% compared to the same period last year.
At the beginning of 2023, visible steel demand and product prices started to increase. Moreover, as the cost of energy stabilised, steelmakers in the EU started to reactivate idle capacity.
