Austria reduced steel production by 33 per cent in August

According to the World Steel Association, between January and August, Austrian steelmakers reduced steel output by 6.7% y-o-y. At the end of August this year, the country's metallurgical enterprises reduced steel production by 33% compared to the previous month to 438 thousand tonnes.

Compared to August last year, Austrian metallurgists reduced steel production by 30.5%.

Moreover, Austria produced 4.88 million tonnes of steel in January-August, 6.7% less than in the same period in 2022.

At the end of this period, the average monthly steel production in Austria was 609.6 thousand tonnes, compared with 653.4 thousand tonnes in August last year (-6.7% y-o-y).
