According to Argentine Chamber of Steel Industry, Acero Argentino, Argentina’s crude steel production in October 2024 totaled 359,600 tons, representing a 3% decrease from September’s 370,900 tons and a 21,6% drop compared to 458,500 tons in October 2023. This decline was attributed to scheduled maintenance on a blast furnace, which impacted production capacity during the month.
Hot-rolled steel production reached 336,900 tons, showing a 5,6% increase from September’s 319,000 tons but remaining 17,1% lower than the 406,500 tons recorded in October 2023. Cold-rolled steel output rose to 106,300 tons, reflecting a 4,5% monthly increase compared to 101,700 tons in September, though it was 2,4% lower than the 108,900 tons produced in October 2023.
The data indicates a combination of monthly growth in rolled steel production and significant year-on-year declines across all steel production categories.
