The Latin American Steel Association (ALACERO) announced that Argentina's crude steel production in 2024 will decrease sharply by 22.2% from last year to 3.8 million tons.
This represents a much larger decline than the expected 3.6% decrease in Latin America's total production. According to ALACERO, total production in the region will reach 56.25 million tons in 2024.
Brazil will remain the region's largest producer with 34.17 million tons, with Mexico in second place with 13.3 million tons. Despite a significant decline in production, Argentina will remain the third largest producer in Latin America.
