The production dropped by 1.5% compared to April and saw a significant annual decrease of 29.4%. In May, crude steel production reached 312,100 tons, down from 316,900 tons in April. This marks a notable 29.4% decrease compared to the same month last year.
According to the data mentioned in the report, primary iron production in May 2024 was 249,000 tons, which is 6% lower than April 2024's production of 265,000 tons and 14.9% lower than May 2023's production of 292,600 tons.
Hot-rolled products saw a total production of 250,100 tons in May 2024, which is 12.5% lower than April 2024's production of 285,700 tons and 40.9% lower than May 2023's production of 422,900 tons.
Cold-rolled sheet production in May 2024 was 81,200 tons, a slight increase of 0.1% from April 2024's 81,100 tons but 21.2% lower than May 2023's 103,000 tons.
