ArcelorMittal France plans to restart its blast furnace BF4 in Dunkirk at the end of May.

Operation of the 3 million mt/year blast furnace was stopped on 30 March after a fire caused by an ignition.

ArcelorMittal Dunkirk is equipped with three blast furnaces with a total production capacity of 7 million mt/year. Blast furnace #4 has the highest production capacity, #3 has a production capacity of 1.5 million mt per year and has been idle since mid-September 2022, and was recently restarted, while blast furnace #2 of the plant will become permanent in December 2022. as stopped.

ArcelorMittal France restarted its 2 million mt capacity blast furnace in Fos sur Mer in April. It was closed in December due to high energy costs and low demand.

Most European mills have not been supplying coils since mid-April due to technical problems, scheduled maintenance and full order books. According to market sources, steelmakers are expected to return to the market with offers in May.
