The first project of the international renewable hydrogen hub HyDeal Ambition, the Hydrogen Hub Austrias (H2Austrias), will be located in Spain.
With the support of companies such as ArcelorMittal and DH2 Energy, the project is aiming to produce and supply green hydrogen at a competitive price in Europe and thus decarbonize the production system. Since 2021, its structural features have been researched and developed, and construction of the project is starting this year. In 2025, production is expected to start and the Hydrogen Hub Austrias, with an installed capacity of 9.5 gigawatts, will provide renewable hydrogen for the production of products such as green steel, green ammonia and green fertilizers.
The President of ArcelorMittal, José Manuel Arias, assessed HyDeal Spain as a strategic initiative in the roadmap to decarbonize steelmaking: "Thanks to the integration of the entire group of companies and the impact of economies of scale, HyDeal Spain offers A competitive supply of hydrogen from renewable energy sources!"
