As part of this project, which contributes to environmental sustainability, the soil was waterproofed to protect the groundwater level and a catchment basin was built for rainwater management.
Francis Audigier, EDF Renewable Energy Regional Manager, stated: “The Châteauneuf solar power plant perfectly demonstrates our commitment to support producers in their energy transition. This project demonstrates that it is possible to develop abandoned sites while contributing to local renewable energy production. We are proud to have successfully completed this project together with ArcelorMittal Industeel, which serves the region. "
Aurélien BRAS, manager of ArcelorMittal Industeel's Loire site, added: “It is a real honor to see this site, once used for landfill, become a source of clean energy. This project proves that the industry is evolving and adapting to today's environmental challenges. With EDF Renewables, we have transformed an end-of-life site into an asset for the energy transition and this is a great achievement for our region.”
