Organized for the 16th time this year, ANKIROS Fair, of which we are a media partner and exhibitor, opened its doors with more visitors than expected.
Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Hannover Messe Ankiros Fuarcılık A.Ş. General Manager İbrahim Anıl, Turkish Foundry Industrialists Association (TÜDÖKSAD) Chairman Kadir Efe, 22nd International Metallurgy and Materials Congress Organizing Committee Chairman Prof. Dr. Özgül Keleş attended the opening ceremony of the fair, which took place at the Istanbul Expo Center (IFM) between September 19-21.
Speaking at the ceremony, İbrahim Anıl, General Manager of Hannover Messe Ankiros Fuarcılık A.Ş., stated that the 16th edition of the Ankiros project, which started in 1992, was held and said, “Our records this year are very striking. Compared to 2022, we have increased our net booth area to 31 thousand 700 square meters and achieved a growth of over 34 %. One thousand 137 companies will be represented on this area. The proportion of foreign companies in this figure increased from 55 % to 63 %. But the most striking development is the development in the number of companies directly participating in the fair. The number of companies directly participating in the fair increased by 42 %, from 462 to 660.”
Stating that the theme of the congress is artificial intelligence and human, Prof. Dr. Özgül Keleş, Chairman of the 22nd International Metallurgy and Materials Congress Organizing Committee, said: “Artificial intelligence and human beings meet together on the basis of universal values, especially in the field of metallurgy and materials, and produce science and technology. In addition to this, it beautifies our world and ensures that all living things live together happily and peacefully. Let's look for the answer to this together in these few days.”
Organized by Hannover Messe Ankiros Fuarcılık A.Ş. every two years, the fair featured 421 domestic and 716 foreign companies as exhibitors. This year, a total of 289 direct foreign companies from 42 countries participated in the fair, demonstrating the importance of ANKIROS Fair in the global metallurgical sector.
Fuat Tosyalı, President of the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TÇÜD), also stated that a positive momentum was achieved this year after the decline experienced.
Tosyalı stated that despite all the troubles experienced, the sector succeeded in increasing its production capacity to 60 million tons in 2023 with an increase of more than 10 % and that the sector increased its production by 14.9 % and exports by 45.3 % in 2024 compared to the previous year.
The Ankiros Fair, which took place on a 70,000 m² exhibition area with a total of 1,137 exhibitors, once again hosted all stakeholders of the industry and the latest technologies in the metallurgical sector.
Visitors from 81 countries mainly consisted of iron and steel producers, users and traders, foundries, non-ferrous metal producers, machinery manufacturing, defense industry, municipalities, cement, automotive, white goods, construction and shipping industry sectors.
There were 3 special sections at the fair. In the iron and steel section, international suppliers and leading manufacturers of the steel industry had the opportunity to exhibit their developing technologies, services and products in these halls.
In the foundry products section, materials produced with different casting methods in many fields from heavy industry machines to agricultural machinery, from shipbuilding to automotive were presented to buyers. In the non-ferrous metals section, exhibitors displayed the latest machinery, equipment, products, raw materials and consumables.
