AMNS India, a joint venture between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel Corporation (NSC), plans to almost double the capacity of the Hazira steel plant, located in the Indian state of Gujarat, by 2026.
The production capacity of the factory in question is recorded as 9 million tons per year. AMNS India plans to increase this amount to 15 million tonnes per year.
Lakshmi Nivas Mittal, chairman and co-owner of ArcelorMITtal, announced that 20 thousand people took part in achieving this goal. The total investment of the project was announced as approximately 7.23 billion dollars.
AMNS has announced the construction of another port in Gujarat to serve the Hazira steel plant as it will require new infrastructure as the capacity of the plant expands.
