On behalf of AMT London, the Singapore branch will seek to develop its non-ferrous, ferrous and precious metals client base in Southeast Asia and Australasia. Former Societe Generale employee Jolynn Chew will be CEO of the new company, supported by William Zhang, who previously worked at Parthnon Derivatives.
"This latest expansion of our physical footprint in Singapore reflects AMT's growing commitment to serving industrial businesses, traders, funds and financial institutions of all sizes looking to hedge or increase their metal price exposure in the Asia-Pacific region," Nick Fellowes, AMT's Managing Director, said in a statement.
Fellowes emphasizes the importance of having a physical presence in the markets where a business wants to establish itself: "The global metals industry relies on relationships and mutual trust between businesses and individuals built through physical interaction. We believe regional presence is critical to this, particularly in a post-pandemic world."
