Alcoa Corp., a prominent US-based aluminum producer, has revealed plans to enhance the casting capabilities at its Deschambault smelter located in Canada. The smelter, boasting an annual production capacity of 287,000 tons of aluminum, will undergo a construction endeavor to facilitate this expansion.
The forthcoming casting facility will be integrated within the current structure of the smelter and is projected to be finalized by the first quarter of 2023. Its implementation will complement the existing vertical casting pits utilized for casting T-bar ingots at the smelter. The anticipated cost of the project is estimated to be approximately US$8 million.
