AHMSA closure could negatively affect annual steel production in Mexico

Mexico's National Chamber of the Iron and Steel Industry (Canacero) reports that the closure of Altos Hornos de México (AHMSA) could result in a 15% decrease in annual steel production in Mexico. AHMSA's annual steel production in 2022 was 19.6 million tons, a 9.7% increase from 2021. Despite the company's sale to Argentem Creek Partners in March 2023, AHMSA has been facing liquidity issues, despite a promise of $200 million injection.
