Highlighting that the export from both sectors increased by an average of 39%, Tosyalı mentioned that the export from the iron and non-ferrous metals sector during the January-May period decreased by 6.9% to 312 million dollars, whereas the export from the steel sector increased by 46.9% to 782 million dollars. The iron and steel sector export in our region reached 1.1 billion dollars in this period, with a total increase of 26%. Italy took the first place in May with 32 million dollars in sales, followed by Egypt with 28 million dollars, and Romania with 26 million dollars. While export increases were achieved in 8 out of the top 10 markets, three-digit growth rates were recorded in exports to four countries. The highest increase was achieved in exports to Italy with 395%, the USA with 324%, Romania with 321%, and Spain with 163%.
We are pleased with the increase in orders
Fuat Tosyalı mentioned that while the sector-wide exports in Türkiye increased by 39% in terms of quantity in May, ADMIB exports increased by 84%. Tosyalı stated, "We are satisfied with the increase in orders. We believe that the demand will continue with the same momentum. We foresee that we will sustain the successful performance in steel exports from the beginning of the year until the end of the year with the same stability. The growth in overall exports in the iron and non-ferrous metals sector in May in Türkiye provides hope for the remaining of the year for the sector. Our two sectors, which are important pillars of Turkish exports, will provide significant support to our country's exports with stronger export figures in the second half of the year."
