German metallurgical company ThyssenKrupp has announced the start of commercial production at the new cold rolling mill at its Bochum iron and steel plant.
The equipment was supplied by the Japanese-Austrian company Primetals Technologies.
According to Primetals, the two-legged reversible rolling mill enables the production of 0.2 mm thick electrical steel. In addition, ThyssenKrupp plans to use the unit to produce high-strength automotive sheet metal, especially for the production of electric vehicles.
ThyssenKrupp is currently carrying out large-scale renovation work at the Bochum plant. By 2025, two continuous wheels and a hot rolling mill are planned to be installed there.
