The 40th International Pittsburgh Coal Congress will be held at TÜYAP Fair and Congress Center between 4 – 6 October 2023. International Pittsburgh Coal Congress of the World; coal is its number one activity, focusing on all aspects of energy and the environment. All over the world; It is a unique platform that offers in-depth sharing of technical information and policy issues for participants from state, university and industrial organizations.
Coal; It remains one of the main components among the world's primary energy sources (oil, natural gas, coal, hydroelectric, renewable energy and nuclear). According to BP World Energy Statistics Survey 2022; Coal prices rose significantly in 2021. Coal prices in Europe average 121 USD / Ton and coal prices in Asia are at their highest since 2008 with 145 USD / Ton. In addition, worldwide coal consumption; It increased by 6 percent and reached 160 Exajoules, exceeding the consumption in 2019 and was the highest level since 2014. The 3.7 Exajoule increase in China's coal consumption and the 2.7 Exajoule increase in India's coal consumption correspond to 70 percent of the increase in coal consumption in 2021. This increase in demand on a global scale was met by the increase in coal production. While China and India used their increased production mainly to meet their own needs, Indonesia highly supported exports with its increased production. After 10 years of declines in both Europe and North America, coal consumption rose again in 2021. However, innovative research shows that coal will remain the most common and abundant fossil fuel in the United States, China and India.
The theme of the Congress is “Technological Innovation and Solutions for Clean Energy”, which supports the continuous use of clean coal to support the clean energy market of the future.
