The iron and steel conference, which was held for the second time in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, opened on the third day with the Giga Project.
The third and final day of the conference started with the speech of Nadhmi Al-Nasr, CEO of NEOM, Saudi Arabia's $500 billion Giga project. After the speech, the conference continued with the Chairman of the National Iron Committee Rayed Al-Ajaji taking the floor.
At the conference, UK-based steelmaker JO Steel Holding announced that it will invest $865 million to establish an integrated billet production facility in Ras Al-Khair Industrial City, Saudi Arabia. The announced investment supports the Saudi Government's National Steel Strategy, which aims to expand Saudi flat steel production as part of Vision 2030.
Investments Minister Khalid Al-Falih announced that Saudi Arabia plans to launch a global initiative to attract global supply chains, including iron and steel, to Saudi Arabia. Speaking of the Saudi International Iron and Steel Conference 2022, he said, “The program will focus on improving the efficiency of global supply chains and increasing their ability to recover by attracting foreign direct investment.”
The conference concluded with a dialogue session titled 'Lessons Learned and Next Steps' by Al-Khorayef.
