According to the statement made by ÇOK AŞ, UNECE, which was established in 1947 to contribute to economic integration in Europe and cooperation among member countries, held its 7th PPP Forum in Athens, the capital of Greece, on 3-5 May.
The 1915 Çanakkale Bridge and Motorway was one of the 5 finalists in the organisation, where 48 of the 70 international projects applied for the competition were evaluated.
Tony Bonnici, Head of the UNECE Public-Private Partnerships Department, and George Katapodis, Head of the UNECE PPPs Working Group, presented the award to Murat Sarıkaya, Deputy General Manager in charge of Finance of the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge and Motorway.
Sarıkaya, whose views were included in the statement, stated that the project has won more than 20 awards so far, but this one has a special importance.
Sarıkaya said, "Our project to support the Gelibolu Women's Cooperative, which we submitted for the competition organised with the theme of 'circular economy' this year, is only one of 321 environmental and social projects carried out by 1915 Çanakkale Bridge and Motorway. With these projects, we continue to create value for our stakeholders, the region and our country while supporting an important part of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals."
The 1915 Çanakkale Bridge and Motorway was awarded the Green World Awards gold level award in 2020 by The Green Organisation, which aims to promote and encourage the best environmental practices worldwide, for its environmental efforts. So far, the project has won 12 financial awards, 2 environmental and social awards, 4 employment awards and 3 engineering awards.
