According to the latest data released by the Lake Carriers' Association (LCA), a trade association that represents the U.S. Great Lakes fleet and supports the transportation of critical cargo that carries key components of American manufacturing, infrastructure and energy production.
In the mentioned period, the highest iron ore shipment of the last 5 years was recorded in the Great Lakes Region, which has become one of the main regions of the steel industry. In March, this shipment amounted to 1.6 million tons.
While the March figure showed a remarkable increase of 25.5% compared to the same month of the previous year, it also exceeded the average of the last 5 years by 47.5%.
