GMH Gruppe aims for climate neutrality in steel production

GMH Gruppe targets climate neutrality in steel production by 2039, with a company-wide net-zero emissions goal set for 2050.

GMH Gruppe aims for climate neutrality in steel production

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) will support and validate companies' net-zero emission targets. Statements highlight SBTi's collaboration with leading organizations including the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the UN Global Compact, the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). This science-based initiative aims to prevent catastrophic global warming by providing companies with a pathway to climate neutrality.

GMH Gruppe CEO Dr. Alexander Becker stated, "In addition to reducing direct emissions from our production processes (Scope 1) and indirect emissions from purchased energy (Scope 2), our key focus is significantly reducing emissions throughout our supply chain (Scope 3). This involves carefully selecting suppliers with a strong commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards, evaluating their planned CO2 reductions, and ensuring transparent reporting. This approach aligns with our goal of a climate-neutral economy."

GMH Gruppe's commitment represents a significant step towards its climate neutrality goals. This approach will enable the company and its supply chain to contribute to a sustainable future.
