Global crude steel production increased in March

According to the latest data of the World Steel Association, the global crude steel production of 63 countries increased by 1.7% in March 2023 compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 165.1 million tons.

Among them, crude steel production in Africa amounted to 1.4 million tons, an increase of 8.4 percent compared to the same period of 2022.

Asia and Oceania produced 124.8 million tons of crude steel, up 4.1 percent y-o-y.

The EU produced 11.9 million tons of crude steel, down 5.6% y-o-y.

Other European countries outside the EU produced 3.5 million tons of crude steel, down 14.1 percent y-o-y.

The Middle East, North America and South America produced 3.1 million, 9.3 million and 3.5 million tons of crude steel, down 17.5%, 2.6 percent and 7.6 percent, respectively.

Russia, other CIS countries and Ukraine produced 7.6 million tons of crude steel, up 3 percent y-o-y.

China, which produced 95.7 million tons of crude steel in March 2023, remains the largest producer with an increase of 6.9 percent compared to the same period of March 2022.
