Global crude steel production fell 8.9 percent

The decline in global crude steel production is due to the decrease in production in China.

Global crude steel production fell 8.9 percent

Turkey's crude steel production increased by 2.4 percent to 3 million 300 thousand tons last month compared to the same period of 2020.

Global crude steel production fell 8.9 percent year on year to 144.4 million tons in September, with production in China falling more than 20 percent.

The World Steel Association (Worldsteel), headquartered in Brussels, announced the September crude steel production data.

GLOBAL CRUDE STEEL PRODUCTION DECREASED 8.9 PERCENT

Accordingly, global crude steel production decreased by 8.9 percent to 144.4 million tons in September compared to the same period of 2020.

In the said period, China's production decreased by 21.2 percent and fell to 73 million 800 thousand tons. While the production of Japan increased by 25.6 percent to 8 million 100 thousand tons, the production of the USA increased by 25.6 percent to 7 million 300 thousand tons and Germany's production increased by 10.7 percent to 3 million 300 thousand tons. It is estimated that it decreased by 2.2 percent to 5 million 900 thousand tons.

TURKEY'S RAW STEEL PRODUCTION INCREASED 2.4 PERCENT

Turkey's crude steel production, on the other hand, increased by 2.4 percent in September compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 3 million 300 thousand tons.

STEEL PRODUCTION INCREASED 15.3 PERCENT IN BRAZIL

It is estimated that steel production in Brazil, which increased by 15.3 percent and reached 3 million 100 thousand tons in the said period, decreased by 51.4 percent to 1 million 300 thousand tons in Iran.

GLOBAL PRODUCTION INCREASED IN JANUARY-SEPTEMBER PERIOD OF THE YEAR

On the other hand, in the January-September period of this year, global crude steel production increased by 7.8 percent compared to the same period of 2020, reaching 1 billion 461 million tons.
