Germany's imports of rolled steel products from third countries in January-February 2024 increased by 1% compared to the same period in 2023 to 154.98 thousand tonnes. Among them, long products accounted for more than 72.5% of Germany's total steel imports in January-February 2024.
Two-month flat steel imports rose by 42.1% yoy to 42.65 thousand tonnes, while long steel imports fell by 9.1% yoy to 112.33 thousand tonnes.
In the January-February 2024 period, most of the imports of rolled steel products to Germany were rebar, which decreased by 22% compared to the same period of the previous year and decreased to 34.36 thousand tonnes. In the same period, imports of wire rod increased by 83.5% to 19.99 thousand tonnes, while imports of other types of corrosion-resistant steel bars, bars, angles, shaped and special profiles increased by 10.3% to 11.77 thousand tonnes.
At the end of February, imports of rolled steel products to Germany amounted to 78.99 thousand tonnes, down 4.8% yoy. Long steel shipments increased by 1.7% yoy to 69.03 thousand tonnes, while flat steel shipments fell by 34% yoy to 9.97 thousand tonnes.
