According to the results of the Household Labor Force Survey; The number of unemployed people aged 15 and over decreased by 109 thousand people in February 2024 compared to the previous month, reaching 3 million 78 thousand people. The unemployment rate decreased by 0.3 points to 8.7 percent. The unemployment rate was estimated to be 7.3 percent for men and 11.3 percent for women.

EMPLOYMENT RATE WAS 49.3 PERCENT

The number of employed people increased by 147 thousand people in February 2024 compared to the previous month, reaching 32 million 423 thousand people, and the employment rate increased by 0.2 points to 49.3 percent. While this rate was 66.5 percent for men, it was 32.5 percent for women.

THE LABOR FORCE PARTICIPATION RATE WAS 54.0 PERCENT

The workforce increased by 38 thousand people in February 2024 compared to the previous month, reaching 35 million 501 thousand people, and the labor force participation rate remained at the same level at 54.0 percent. While the labor force participation rate was 71.7 percent for men, it was 36.6 percent for women.

UNEMPLOYMENT RATE IN YOUTH POPULATION WAS 15.6 PERCENT

The unemployment rate in the young population, covering the 15-24 age group, decreased by 0.8 points compared to the previous month and reached 15.6 percent. Unemployment rate in this age group; It was estimated as 13.4 percent for men and 19.6 percent for women.

AVERAGE WEEKLY ACTUAL WORKING TIME WAS 43.5 HOURS

The average weekly actual working hours of those who were employed during the reference period, adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects, increased by 0.2 hours compared to the previous month and reached 43.5 hours in February 2024.

SEASONALLY ADJUSTED idle labor force rate was 24.5 percent

The idle labor force rate, which consists of time-related underemployment, potential labor force and unemployed people, decreased by 1.9 points compared to the previous month and reached 24.5 percent in February 2024. While the integrated rate of time-related underemployment and the unemployed was 16.3 percent, the integrated rate of the unemployed and potential labor force was estimated at 17.6 percent.
