The distributor groups that have signed a joint cooperation agreement include Coalsider from Spain, European Steel Group from Poland, Nordwest from Germany, Sider Center from Italy and Socoda from France.
Together, these five associations represent more than 200 medium-sized steel distributors. The aim of the network is to create synergies and develop strategic relationships with Europe's largest producers, as well as being a sales reference for major European producers.
Astedis members said in a statement, "For the newly created network, it is important that the groups of companies continue to be fully independent in their national markets and that the specific characteristics of each market are respected. Private trade between medium-sized companies has become more important in recent years. Astedis wants to be a benchmark in Europe for this trade. We believe that our strategic network will create new opportunities for all partners involved... The cooperation wants to take on future challenges and changes in the steel market related to digitalization, changing purchasing markets and issues such as green steel." They added that the cooperation between Astedis and the main European producers will further strengthen and consolidate steel distribution at a time of profound changes in the market.
"This network can be seen as an element of strength and will open a dialog at the international level but respecting the differences of each country involved," commented a member of the network.
