EU steel quota utilisation in recession

The EU's new quota period between 1 October and 31 December has started. According to the data compiled by SteelRadar, the utilisation rate of EU steel quotas decreased.

There was a decrease in the countries and utilisation rates of the EU's steel quotas allocated to countries.

Looking at the utilisation rates of EU steel quotas, China used 127,995 tonnes of 4B metallic coated steel sheet, India used 31,678 tonnes of stainless bar and light section, and China used 6,987 tonnes of sheet pile.

In general terms, it is observed that the utilisation of steel quotas allocated to countries has decreased.

Turkiye used 9.28 per cent of its steel quota

While Turkiye's quota data for the period between 1 July and 30 September shows that it used some quotas in full, the quota figures for October-December show that Turkiye mostly used hollow sections. Turkiye has so far used only 91,816 tonnes (9.28%) of the 990,685 tonnes of steel quota allocated to Turkiye.

On the other hand, there are some countries that have not yet utilised their allocated quota from the EU quotas. South Korea, 253 tonnes of 3A silicon steel sheet quota, 35,118 tonnes of 3B silicon steel sheet quota and 1,155 tonnes of stainless seamless tubes quota, Iran, 165 tonnes of 3A silicon steel sheet quota, Japan, 1,594 tonnes of stainless wire rod quota, the United Kingdom, 3,816 tonnes of stainless wire rod quota and 896 tonnes of sheet pile quota are among the countries that have not yet used their quotas.
