The European Commission has extended anti-dumping duties on certain standard sizes of rebar imported from Belarus for the next five years. The tariffs were first approved in 2017 at the initiative of the European steel association Eurofer.
The amount of duties remained unchanged at 10.6 per cent. Initially, at the end of 2016, the European Commission planned to set a tariff of 12.5 per cent.
According to Eurofer, the Belarusian Metallurgical Plant, the only producer of rebar in the country, exported 54.28 thousand tonnes of rebar to the EU countries in January-April 2022, which is 24.9% lower than in the same period last year. Currently, the supply of these products is suspended due to sanctions.
