In a significant development for Iran's rail infrastructure, Esfahan Steel has signed a memorandum of understanding to produce 30,000 tons of 60E1 grade R260 high-speed train rails. This agreement, adhering to the international standard EN-13674-2017, was formalized between Seyed Ardeshir Afzali, CEO of Isfahan Steelworks, and Abbas Khatibi, Deputy Director of Railways, Ports, and Airports of the National Transport Infrastructure Construction and Development Company. The signing took place on January 9 at the Esfahan Steel booth during the 6th National Iranian Steel Festival and Exhibition in Milad Tower, Tehran.
The domestic production of these rails is expected to save 22 million euros in foreign exchange, reducing the need for imports. These rails will be used to support key rail projects, including the Mianeh-Ardabil, Mobarakeh-Shahrekord, and Zahedan-Chabahar rail axes, enhancing the country's transportation infrastructure and promoting self-sufficiency in rail manufacturing.
