Regarding this investment, Süleyman Savaş Erdem, General Manager of OYAK, the parent company of Erdemir, stated that they had given a special gift to the 100th anniversary of the Republic and that they were proud of it. Emphasising that Erdemir is one of the most valuable industrial assets in the country, he stated that they will continue to produce for the future of Türkiye.
With this special investment, Erdemir rebuilt the 2nd blast furnace named after Zübeyde Hanım, the mother of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and commissioned it on the 100th anniversary of the Republic. At the ceremony, Zonguldak Governor Osman Hacıbektaşoğlu, Zonguldak MPs Saffet Bozkurt and Eylem Ertuğ Ertuğrul, Karadeniz Ereğli District Governor Mehmet Yapıcı, Black Sea Region Commander Rear Admiral Niyazi Uğur, Kdz. Ereğli Mayor Halil Posbıyık and many important names took place.
"We present Zübeyde to the Turkish industry"
Publishing a message on the occasion of the commissioning of the Blast Furnace 'Zübeyde', OYAK General Manager Süleyman Savaş Erdem stated that Erdemir, one of the most valuable industrial assets of the country, continued the rapid and strong growth momentum it achieved after being incorporated into OYAK in 2006 and said: "Erdemir is one of the companies that are the pride of our country. In this period, when we are focusing on high value-added production by increasing our domestic production capability, we are working to consolidate our country's role as a strong player in the region. Today, we are commissioning another valuable investment not only for Erdemir but also for the Turkish steel industry. On this historic day when we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of our Republic, we are presenting our new 2nd Blast Furnace 'Zübeyde', named after Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's mother and created by the labour of Turkish engineers, to the Turkish industry."

Savaş Erdem said, "The new investment of Erdemir, which has played a role in the development of our country's industry since the first day of its commissioning and has always focused on value-added production, will contribute to the goal of reducing external dependence in the iron and steel sector, which is critical for the country's industry. Erdemir, which ranks in the top 5 among the 500 largest industrial enterprises in our country, continues to produce for the future of Karadeniz Ereğli and Türkiye, provides raw materials to countless sectors and gives confidence for the future with sustainable growth steps. Erdemir will illuminate the future of Türkiye in the second 100 years of our Republic."
