The 2nd Blast Furnace 'Zübeyde', which Erdemir rebuilt within the scope of investments to increase efficiency, will carry out its first production on 29 October, the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye.
Erdemir, one of OYAK's Mining Metallurgy Companies, rebuilt the 2nd Blast Furnace 'Zübeyde' for efficient and sustainable production. The 2nd Blast Furnace, named after the mother of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, will be commissioned with a ceremony to be held on 29 October 2023.
The new furnace, which was introduced to the Turkish industry in the 100th anniversary of the Republic, will increase Erdemir's annual production capacity from 1 million 625 thousand tonnes to 1 million 775 thousand tonnes. Erdemir will contribute to sustainable production by increasing its efficiency with the new 2nd Blast Furnace.
Equipped with state-of-the-art equipment
Built to replace the 2nd Blast Furnace, which has been in operation since 1978, the new furnace was equipped with state-of-the-art equipment that will carry Erdemir's occupational health and safety, environmental and energy performances forward.
Having decided to renew the 2nd Blast Furnace 'Zübeyde' in order to increase its efficiency and contribute to sustainable production, Erdemir carried out the construction works of the new furnace without taking the old furnace out of operation.
Erdemir will share the enthusiasm of the 100th anniversary of the Republic by carrying out the first production in the rebuilt 'Zübeyde' on 29 October.
