An explosion sound coming from the blast furnace of the Ereğli Iron and Steel Factory (ERDEMIR) in Zübeyde at 22.38 yesterday evening caused a short-term panic and anxiety.
In a statement made by Erdemir, it was stated that the sound of the explosion was caused by the high pressure generated during the operation called 'peak opening' performed in 2. Blast Furnace Zübeyde. This process was intended to eliminate gas compression, was perceived as an explosion.
The statement also stressed that there were no injuries in the incident in question and that the situation had been brought under control. It was stated that the explosion was effective only in terms of sound and the safety of factory employees and people in the vicinity was ensured.
