Voestalpine Stahl will supply the independent steel service centre EMW with its carbon footprint-reduced Greentec steel version from this year, according to EMW. "As one of the largest independent steel service centres in Europe, one of our ambitious goals is to achieve complete climate neutrality in Scope 1 and 2 by 2030," says Michael Mockenhaupt, managing director of the German company.
Voestalpine already offers all flat steel products in the Steel Division with a reduced carbon footprint. These include electrical steel strip, such as that used in wind turbines, and high-strength steels for lightweight automotive construction.
