EDO and Jiangsu Changbao Steel Tube join forces for domestic pipe production in Oman

Energy Development Oman (EDO) and China’s Jiangsu Changbao Steel Tube Co. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore the establishment of an advanced OCTG manufacturing facility aimed at increasing local production capacity in Oman’s energy sector. This collaboration seeks to contribute to economic diversification in line with Oman’s Vision 2040 objectives.

EDO and Jiangsu Changbao Steel Tube join forces for domestic pipe production in Oman

In alignment with Oman’s goals of enhancing local content development and manufacturing capabilities within the energy sector, EDO — a company wholly owned by the Government of Oman — signed an MoU with Jiangsu Changbao Steel Tube Co. The agreement aims to explore the potential for establishing a modern Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG) manufacturing facility in the Sultanate. OCTG refers to a range of Oil Country Tubular Goods used in oil and gas production, including drill pipe, casing, line pipe, structural tubing, connectors, and accessories.

The signing ceremony was held under the patronage of H.E. Eng. Badar bin Salim Al Maamari, Secretary General of the Tender Board. The MoU was signed on behalf of EDO by the company’s Chief Operating Officer, Eng. Azhar Al Kindi, and on behalf of Jiangsu Changbao Steel Tube Co. by its Chairman of the Board, Mr. Cao Jian.

This strategic partnership represents a significant step toward fostering sustainable economic growth by advancing local content development, strengthening Omani capabilities, attracting strategic investments, and supporting Oman’s economic diversification goals.
