Dr. Alia el Mahdi stated that Egypt produces around 10 million tons of iron and steel per year, while Algeria produces around 7.5 million tons. But she noted that the potential demand in both countries is high.
Explaining that Algeria's production capacity is 40%, Dr. el Mahdi shared what they could achieve under better conditions and the chances and obstacles they face. Stating that competition is the regional advantage of Egypt and Algeria, Dr. el Mahdi said that the proximity of Turkiye, Egypt and Algeria to Europe gives them an advantage in accessing large markets.
