The product, which completely eliminates rust, prevents corrosion and can increase its strength by 1000%, offers a revolutionary innovation in the steel industry.
Mr. Ak has begun to make a major impact on the steel industry with the Borwin Plus product formulated from boron ore at Akka Technology Company, which he established in Bursa. In addition to being resistant to high temperatures, the product also has hydrophobic properties against water. Moreover, since this product is produced from Turkey's rich boron mine, it represents a patent that is unique in the world.
A unique product in the world
Having started his entrepreneurship journey at the age of 14 with the TÜBİTAK award he received, Emre Ak shared his entrepreneurial story and the development stages of his product with SteelRadar.
'I developed a product called "Borwin Plus" from the boron mine, which is quite plentiful in Turkey. The R&D studies for this product were completed three years ago. Currently, there is a facility in Bursa's Gemlik district that operates entirely with a robotic system. This system does not require any human effort and is completely controlled by software. The facility has a production capacity of 20 tonnes. We have been selling the product for the last 2.5 years. Borwin Plus is not limited to a single industry; it is sold to various sectors such as automotive, steel construction, flat steel, construction, industry, and wind energy. Since this product is derived from boron ore, it is a patented product with no equivalent in the world. Although sales are currently high, it is still being sold abroad as a sample. As there was no such product before, trade begins after tests are conducted and people or companies have the opportunity to see and use the product,' said Mr. Emre Ak, the Founder of Akka Technology Company.
‘Borwin Plus’ is a liquid raw material with nano-technological properties’
Ak said, ‘’ I noticed that fire news had become very widespread and I wanted to find a solution. Later, a news article titled ‘63.4% of the world's boron ore is in Turkey’ attracted my attention and I started to work for laboratories. At that time, it was forbidden to take even a sample of boron ore. I worked in the laboratory for three months without interruption and invented my project called ‘Borwin’. When Borwin was first released, it was a raw material consisting of dust. Only the plastic products and the main raw materials exhibited a homogeneous mixture and increased the flammability rate, which also increased the strength of the product. When the news of the fire appeared, I made a socket using Borwin. At the age of 20, I established a company. Later, serious sales emerged and I launched my product called ‘Borwin Plus’ in liquid form. ‘Borwin Plus’ is a liquid raw material with nano-technological properties.
Underlining that Borwin Plus is a product with more than one feature, Ak said, ‘In general terms, it has a feature that completely eliminates corrosion, completely prevents rusting, has hydrophobic properties and can increase its strength by 1000%. The product is also resistant to high temperatures. There are few domestic and national brands in the steel industry, but the biggest difference of Borwin Plus is that it is a product invented entirely from domestic and national boron mine. Apart from these, the other feature that distinguishes the product from other products globally is that the drying time is two minutes. As you know, steel production speed is very important. Processing and total drying time is 10 minutes in total. If you wish, you can perform welding operations. While the acceleration of the product manufacturing process provides a great advantage to the producer and the end user, steel producers increase their product ranges, increase their capacities in the same way and contribute to their revenues. We are currently about to sign agreements with the biggest iron and steel companies in Türkiye. I am very happy where we are and my aim is to promote my country and my product by taking a place in the global market.’
