According to the report, Taiwan's carbon steel manufacturer China Steel Corporation (CSC) has completed carbon emission and carbon footprint certification. The performance of product carbon reduction is better than that of European Union (EU) steel mills because the EU had decided to implement the "Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM)" for imported steel products in October this year.
Some market participants have indicated that the EU plans to implement CBAM for upstream and downstream products such as imported steel and aluminum from October 2023. During the trial period, importers must report carbon emissions for imported products and officially impose carbon tariffs in 2027, promoting the trend of high steel prices and carbon neutrality.
