Cross-country trend in EU HRC and CRC quota usage

In the first quarter of 2024, the use of EU steel quotas is balanced between countries. According to SteelRadar's weekly analysis, some countries are filling their quotas quickly, while others are adopting a cautious stance.

Cross-country trend in EU HRC and CRC quota usage

Towards the end of January, the usage rates for CRC (cold rolled coil) and HRC (hot rolled coil) products in EU quotas are observed as follows.

South Korea is the leader in HRC quotas

South Korea consolidates its first place by successfully using 43.17% of the initial HRC quota of 184,008 tons. He quickly utilizes his quotas with a prominent strategy.

India is rapidly using up its quotas

India draws attention by rapidly consuming 23.32% of the 294,662 tons of HRC quota. However, the unused quota potential of 225,953 tons will determine India's future steps.

Serbia and Türkiye use it cautiously:

While Serbia has used 20.28% of its 163,353 tons of HRC quota, Turkey has consumed only 12.84% of its 464,083 tons of HRC quota. Both countries are taking a cautious approach.

The United Kingdom has used 3.40% of its HRC quota of 153,929 tons, and the remaining quota is 148,699 tons. It is a matter of curiosity what kind of strategy the United Kingdom, which adopted a cautious attitude in the first quarter, will adopt in the future.

South Korea and India stand out in CRC quotas

While South Korea stands out by using 18.56% of its 93,398-ton CRC quota, India has consumed 11.12% of its 161,038-ton CRC quota. Both countries maintain their impressive positions in the sector with their remarkable performances.

Serbia used 8.45% of its 40,657 tons CRC quota, and the United Kingdom used 4.60% of its 86,321 tons quota. Both countries evaluate their quotas cautiously.
