The UK Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) has proposed increasing the HRC import quota due to the decline in local production. This step aims to secure raw material supplies for the local industry. The EU has launched an anti-dumping investigation into HRC steel imports from Egypt, Vietnam, India and Japan. This investigation is aimed at preventing unfair competition.
According to SteelRadar's assessment of the quota period from July 1 to September 30, countries used 50% of their HRC quotas. India achieved the highest rate by using 76.7% of its quota of 301,703 tons. Türkiye used 60.3% of its quota of 475,173 tons, Serbia used 33.7% of its quota of 167,256 tons and South Korea used 33.7% of its quota of 188,405 tons.
China achieved full utilization of 126,629 tons of 4B metallic coated sheets and 8,161 tons of other welded tubes due to dumping practices and restrictions, while low utilization rates were recorded for other quotas. India and Türkiye stand out with full capacity utilization in certain products. India fully utilized 54,225 tons of 4A metallic coated sheets, 79,455 tons of organic coated sheets and 32,082 tons of stainless bars and light profiles quotas, while Türkiye fully utilized 119,010 tons of wire rod, 1,573 tons of railway materials, 99,461 tons of hollow sections and 15,095 tons of wide welded pipes quotas.
