İGA Istanbul Airport has taken action to establish a container city for the shelter of the disaster victims who are homeless in Hatay, one of the provinces most affected by the earthquake.
The 350-container city, which will be established on 30 acres of land next to the Hatay Provincial Gendarmerie Command and allocated to İGA Istanbul Airport by the Hatay Governorship, is expected to be a home for 350 families. 89 personnel and 34 construction machines are working 24/7 in shifts in order to ensure that the city, all operations of which are undertaken by İGA Istanbul Airport and the construction of which is planned to be started on February 13 and completed by the end of this month, can be offered to the service of earthquake victims as soon as possible.
Employees who voluntarily go to the earthquake regions from İGA Istanbul Airport to participate in the rescue efforts take part in the installation phase of the container city established in Hatay.
Each of the 21-square-meter containers, which will be shipped from Istanbul between February 20-26, will have furniture, showers, toilets and kitchen countertops, while the containers will have the capacity to meet the temporary accommodation needs of a family of 5-6 people. The campus will also include socialization spaces such as a dining hall, kitchen, laundry, three different children's playgrounds categorized specifically for three different age groups and a prayer room. The container city will also have an infirmary.
