Collaboration between Tenova and Tata Steel

Tenova, known for providing sustainable solutions in the metals industry, has secured a significant partnership with Tata Steel Group's Tinplate Company of India (TISC) to install a state of the art Tin Coating Line (TCL) and Tin Double Reduction Mill (TDRM) at its Jamshedpur plant in Jharkhand, India.

Collaboration between Tenova and Tata Steel

This high tech TCL includes an advanced pre-tinning section that uses sulfuric acid to regulate the iron content in the electrolyte solution. This advanced design ensures optimum strip plating quality, while the use of IGBT AFE rectifier technology increases efficiency and minimizes electricity consumption, promoting sustainability.

Innovative tin coating technology enables TCL to achieve unprecedented process speed and significantly increases production capacity. The complementary TDRM plays an important role in achieving ultra-light strip thickness and desired hardness. Equipped with technologies such as Automatic Gauge Control (AGC) rollers, Automatic Flatness Control (AFC) system, Roughness Control System and a special Reduction Control for Double Reduced (DR) tinplate, the TDRM guarantees precise and premium quality output.

Giuseppe Zanzi, Tenova's General Representative for Southeast Asia and Oceania, expressed his pride at being chosen as the Tata Group's technological partner and emphasized the sustainability and high production capacity of its solutions. Amitabh Nitabh, Managing Director of Tenova Technologies Pvt. Ltd. emphasized the importance of Tata Steel's confidence in its capabilities and expressed his pleasure to contribute to creating a more sustainable future for the steel industry.
