China's crude steel production reached about 77.07 million tons in September 2024, marking a 6.1% decline compared to the same period last year.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, China's crude steel production in September 2024 reached approximately 77.07 million tons, marking a 6.1% decline compared to the same period last year. Despite this y-o-y decline, the daily average output for September was nearly 2.57 million tons, a 2.2% increase from the previous month.

From January to September 2024, China's total crude steel output amounted to 768.48 million tons, reflecting a 3.6% decrease compared to the same period in 2023.

In terms of steel products, production in September stood at 117.31 million tons, a 2.4% decline from the previous year. However, the daily average output for steel products rose by 9.3% month-on-month, reaching 3.91 million tons. Cumulatively, from January to September, steel product output totaled around 1,044.48 million tons, which represented a slight 0.1% decrease compared to the same period last year.
